smalljoy started with a story that might feel familiar to you. Daily coffee shop runs added up. We love coffee and our sweet treats, and we wanted to find a way to keep those little joys in our lives without breaking the bank. I tried making coffee at home, but the syrups I could find tasted too artificial or too sweet. I started making basic syrups at home and a revelation hit me: I loved making syrups, but I found I also loved knowing exactly what was going into them. I even loved the idea of them lasting weeks instead of months from unnatural preservatives. I enjoyed my own syrups for my little lattes at home for about a year before deciding to gift some syrups to some close friends. To my surprise, they all asked me to make them more!
